Cell Phone Use in College Classrooms

Cell phone use in college classes has become an increasingly common occurrence. Students at Pace University, much like other colleges, are part of the epidemic of constant phone use. Most students use their phones in class, regardless of the cell phone or teachnology policies put in place by professors. It is all too common to see students on their phones scrolling through social media or texting during class. This abuse of cell phones leads to lower test scores and GPA. Students perform worse when they use cell phones because they are missing important information being presented during class. The majority of students in a study by Tindell and Bohlander admitted to using cell phones in class or witnessed a student using their phone during class. The chart below depicts the results of the study.
